Carmen Gisi (l) and Robert Bowen

Robert gave the orders and Carmen tried, like 58 years ago, to carry out the instructions. He told me that 58 years ago he didn't realize that this Garrant riffle was that heavy. Now he couldn't imagine that he carried it day and night and had to walk with it countless miles.

As you can see they still can do it. Though he is 88 years old, Robert automaticly stands at attention while he gives his orders.

Carmen's son Charlie, who is an airline company captain, wanted to have a photo while carrying a German automatic wapon from wwII. Above right with the webmaster.(r)

In October and November 1944 heavy fithing was going on at the so called Island. Here also was the Waal crossing. The rescue of 130 British Red Devils by 506 E Comp. is in the book Band of Brothers and you also can see it in the TV-series. "Moose" Heyliger was in charge of that rescue team. Above right: this is the spot (near a place called Lexkusveer) at the Lower Rhine. At the horizon you can see Arnhem. The soldier on the left photo is standing on the Waal river dike, about 5 km. from the spot where the above photo is taken, towards Arnhem
