The representitives of the primary school received a new sign which was handed over to them by James Megellas. In 2013 a new bridge in Nijmegen will be named 'De Oversteek' (The Crossing). A tribute to all those brave men who lost there live during the famous Waal River crossing during Operation Marker Garden.

Both James and Walther Hughes spoke to the guests. According to the master of ceremonies his speech was too long as Queen Beatrix soon would arrive in Nijmegen. It would not be a good idea to let her wait.
James wanted to complete his speech and answered that in that case the Queen had to wait.

After the wreath laying by the mayor of Nijmegen, Gen. Petraeus and the US Ambassador the flags were hoisted up. Untill that moment the flags hung at half-mast.
