During the last days of the reunion the group stayed in Eindhoven, a town liberated by the 101st Airborne Division on September 18, 1944.
We visited the museum Liberating Wings at Best, the drop zones in Son but also non WWII related spots like the little village of Oirschot, about 6 miles North-West of Eindhoven

 

On our way to Nuenen where a wreath laying took place and a new plaque for the fallen brothers would be unveiled.

On September 20, 1944 their were severe fighting in Nuenen . Easy Company encountered so heavy German resistance that they did not succeed in reaching Helmond through. They even had to withdraw, something Winters did not like at all.

In episode 4 (replacements) the Easy Company actions in Nuenen are to be seen.
In that episode you also can see the fighting around the SCHAFTRATH cafe. This cafe is still there. (below)

Among others Paul Rogers and Buck Compton were wounded in action at Nuenen. Compton ordered the men to go on and leave him for the Germans, but Malarkey, Guarnere and Toye took him with them into safety on a barn door.

It was also in Nuenen where Bull Randleman was cut off his squad. It wasa told that he killed a German in a barn.

Robert van Klinken, James Miller were killed in action in Nuenen.
